Showcasing new and recent fine art graduates since 1949, New Contemporaries is established both nationally and internationally as a reliable barometer of future trends in art. With Bloomberg's support of New Contemporaries now in its 17th year, the national touring exhibition will launch from 9 July to 16 October 2016 at Bluecoat, Liverpool, marking a return to that venue after 30 years. Forming part of Liverpool Biennial 2016, of which New Contemporaries has been an integral part since 1999, the exhibition will then tour to ICA, London, from 23 November 2016.

Drawing on common themes within Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2016, Dr Lucy Jackson explores the politics of the everyday and how routine actions form communities, boundaries and identities. Dr Jackson is Lecturer in Human Geography at Liverpool University, specialising in social and political geography.

6th September 6pm - How to Sell Your Work. Paulette Terry Brien (director, International 3 Gallery) leads a workshop on selling your artwork.
 
15th September 6pm - How to Collect Emerging Art. Mark Doyle, art adviser, and collector Connal Orton present a session on collecting the work of emerging artists.

17th September 2pm-5pm - Artquest Peer Mentoring. Artist Chloe Cooper talks about her own extensive experiences of peer mentoring, suggesting strategies and approaches to establishing a group and the benefits and challenges that come with it

30th September 11am-4pm - Emerging Practices: Ensuring Development and Sustainability. A day long symposium in partnership with Art Fund featuring Fran Edgerley (Assemble); Francesco Manacorda (artistic director, Tate Liverpool); George Vasey (art writer & curator of The Northern Gallery) and Charlotte Higgins (chief culture writer of the Guardian)
