New Contemporaries’ Studio Bursary with SPACE

New Contemporaries’ Studio Bursary with SPACE

Studio provision for early career artists is recognised by SPACE and New Contemporaries as a key mode of support, against a backdrop of increased costs of living especially noticeable in London boroughs. The New Contemporaries’ Studio Bursary with SPACE facilitates artists’ development and enables the production of a new body of work.

We are delighted to announce Katie Schwab (BNC 2015) as the fourth recipient of the New Contemporaries' Studio Bursary with SPACE. From May 2018, Schwab will benefit from a studio in Deborah House, Hackney, where she will continue to develop her practice. In addition, both organisations will provide tailored professional support to the artist.

Katie completed her MFA at The Glasgow School of Art in 2015. Recent projects include 'Atrium Commissions', mima, Middlesbrough (2017); 'A Portable Mural', Serpentine Galleries, London (2017); 'Jerwood Solo Presentations', Jerwood Space, London (2016); 'Making the Bed, Laying the Table', Glasgow Sculpture Studios, Glasgow (2016) and 'Together in a Room', Collective, Edinburgh (2016).
