Valentino Vannini is multidisciplinary artist whose sculptures and installations playfully confront social norms and lure the viewer towards a ‘lurky’ place. Often a forgotten urban/natural hinterland, the lurky place references gay cruising culture. His work, imbued with anticipation, anonymity and desire, speaks about restriction, boundaries and societal control as well as rebelliousness and resistance to erasure, which are typical manifestations within marginalised groups. Recent solo show: Penetrable Boundaries, Standpoint Gallery (2024). Group Shows include: Dawn is now Once Again, Greenfield Project Space (2024); Unknown Territory, SET Lewisham (2024); NOW Introducing 2023, Studio West Gallery (2023); Surprise, Somers Town Public Art Show, Somers Gallery (2023); MA SHOW, City & Guilds of London Art School (2023); INTERIM Show, City & Guilds of London Art School (2023); A Dog in the Playground, Peckham Platform, (2016); Candid Art Trust, Angel (2015).
