Artist Ahmet Öğüt together with New Contemporaries and Transport for London’s Art on the Underground programme are seeking stories about how art has saved lives.
The call for stories forms part of a major new public artwork that will launch at Stratford Station from 10 September 2025.
How to enter:
Please complete the submission form below if you would like to share your story. You will be able to submit a story from 2 April to 2 June 2025, and you must be based in the UK and have a permanent UK address.
Submissions will be reviewed by a judging panel, including the artist with New Contemporaries and Art on the Underground. You will be notified by July 2025 if your story has been successful.
If your story is considered the most compelling, it will be displayed in London Underground and you will receive an artwork created by artist Ahmet Öğüt in the form of a trophy.
Eligibility:
We welcome submissions from UK-based members of the public to share their stories about how art has saved lives. You must be based in the UK, including UK nationals and those with the right to work or study here, with a current UK address. Submissions must be from those aged 18 years or older or submitted with an adult if you are under 18. There is no upper age limit. Collaborative, collective or duo stories are eligible, but this must be clear from the outset of your submission, with all members meeting the other criteria set out above.
Your stories:
- Should be no longer than 500 words.
- Can involve healing or survival made possible by an artwork or art project.
- Can feature an artwork intentionally designed to save lives or one that did so accidentally or unexpectedly.
