Gray, Jamie Green, Thomas Greig, Byzantia Harlow, Sebastian Jefford, Seungjo Jeong, Alfie Kungu, Janina Lange, Lana Locke, Georgia Lucas-Going, Sophie Mackfall,Karolina Magnusson-Murray & Leon Platt, Richie Moment, Zarina Muhammad, Richard Nicholson, Mooni Perry, Lisa Porter, Alicia Reyes McNamara, George Ridgway, Rodrigo Red Sandoval, Zsofia Schweger, Leonor Serrano Rivas, Ruth Spencer Jolly, Oriele Steiner, Margreta Stolen, Reece Straw, Maryam Tafakory, Tenant of Culture and Jack West.
Showcasing new and recent fine art graduates since 1949, New Contemporaries is established both nationally and internationally as a reliable barometer of future trends in art. With Bloomberg's support of New Contemporaries now in its 17th year, the national touring exhibition will launch from 9 July to 16 October 2016 at Bluecoat, Liverpool, marking a return to that venue after 30 years. Forming part of Liverpool Biennial 2016, of which New Contemporaries has been an integral part since 1999, the exhibition will then tour to ICA, London, from 23 November 2016.
Kirsty Ogg, Director, New Contemporaries says “Counting Tacita Dean, Mona Hatoum, David Hockney and Mike Nelson as well as more recent emerging artists, Ed Atkins, Nathaniel Mellors, Haroon Mirza and Laure Prouvost amongst our alumni, many New Contemporaries have gone on to set the agenda for visual art practice worldwide. This year’s selectors were impressed by the breadth of work and critical sense demonstrated, with the resulting exhibition set to profile a cross-section of the most dynamic work to come out of British art schools.” As a National Portfolio Organisation, New Contemporaries is a registered charity supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
